Al pensar en México, una de las primeras imágenes que nos viene a la cabeza es la de sus extensas e increíbles playas que prometen unas vacaciones y descanso perfectos. Y uno de los lugares en donde es posible relajarse y disfrutar de los encantos de la naturaleza es en Costa Alegre.

Costa Alegre se encuentra localizada en el estado de Jalisco. Está integrada por bellas playas, con sorprendentes paisajes y una geografía única, que convierten a las mismas en lugares de placer. Las mismas son Costa de Careyes, Bahía de Chamela, Costa Majahuas, la Bahía de Tenacatita y la Bahía de Navidad.

Costa Alegre no deja de sorprender porque cumple con todas las cualidades para ser un verdadero paraíso terrenal: un sinfín de actividades y programas de recreación, pueblos amigables, una tradición culinaria tan variada como sabrosa y sitios increíbles por explorar.

Uno de los lugares de Costa Alegre que resulta como uno de los principales atractivos es Barra de Navidad, ubicada en la zona sur de Costa Alegre, en la costa del Pacifico, a 200 kilómetros de Puerto Vallarta.  Su nombre se debe a que existe una formación natural de arena, que tiene forma de barra, y que se encuentra ubicada en forma perpendicular a La Punta El Viejo. El lugar fue descubierto en épocas de navidad, hace varios años atrás, y es por eso que su nombre le rinde honor al momento exacto en que un grupo de personas se dio cuenta de su existencia.

 Es un sitio que ofrece las condiciones justas para encontrar la tranquilidad y la paz que uno busca cuando se escapa de la ciudad, pero también entretenimientos y actividades que convierten a la jornada en un divertido día de playa y de actividad. Se calcula que aquí habitan sólo 5000 personas, por lo que se trata de un sitio en donde usted encontrará resguardo, calidez y un ambiente familiar y amable, ya que los ciudadanos se alegran mucho ante la presencia de visitantes. Barra de Navidad es un lugar elegido sobre todo por parejas y familias, que buscan privacidad y tranquilidad. Pero sin embargo, se trata del sitio en donde hay más actividad nocturna.

Se trata de un pueblo de costumbres pesqueras, ya que las condiciones naturales del lugar hacen que exista una presencia abundante de peces como el marlín, atún, y pez vela.

En torno a esta costumbre, se han edificado numerosos hábitos más, al punto de identificar a la ciudad. Uno de ellos es el Torneo Internacional de Pez Vela, al que se suman los fanáticos de la práctica de la pesca como actividad deportiva. Si está interesado en participar de él, por lo general se realiza en las últimas semanas de enero.

También estas condiciones naturales han definido el tipo de gastronomía del lugar, en donde los protagonistas principales de los platos típicos son los pescados y los mariscos. Estas comidas deben ser acompañadas por las bebidas típicas como el pulque y el tejuino.

En el lugar, encontrará diversos restaurantes y bares, en donde podrá degustar estos manjares provenientes del mar, muy bien sazonados, con el estilo que caracteriza a México.

El paisaje natural se encuentra definido por una arena suave y dorada, ideal para descansar bajo los rayos del sol, y por una vegetación intensa, verde y túpida, que asemeja al lugar con características selváticas.

El agua del mar es de color turquesa, y es por ello que es posible practicar actividades deportivas como el buceo y el snorkel. También el surf es otras de las opciones.

Para quiénes conocer los diversos rincones de Barra de Navidad, se pueden contratar los servicios de paseos en lancha, muy agradables ya que se puede explorar el lugar en su extensión, mientras un suave viento nos refresca.

Otra de las alternativas para realizar en cualquier momento del día, son los paseos por la playa. No hay quién deje de realizar una caminata por el lugar, ya que la tranquilidad invita a conectarse con los sentidos y realizar este ejercicio. Además, Barra de Navidad siempre tiene algo nuevo para mostrar.

Durante el paseo, también se pueden realizar compras en las diversas tiendas que se encuentran sobre la costa. Por lo general aquí se pueden adquirir productos artesanales, que recuerdan al lugar, o bien algunos artículos variados como pareos, lentes de sol, gorras, entre otros.

La mayor parte de las tiendas, fuera de la zona de playa, se encuentran ubicadas en la intersección de las calles Avenida López Legazpi y la Avenida Veracruz. Aquí también se pueden encontrar otro tipo de productos, con diseños exclusivos que evidencian las costumbres del lugar. Objetos coloridos, prendas de ropa alegres y artículos de bazar se encuentran en negocios y tiendas de diferente tamaño, que se ubican una al lado de la otra en estas calles. En este paseo de compras, no se puede dejar de visitar el Mercado Artesanal, donde las opciones son variadas pero el protagonismo se lo llevan las piezas de orfebrería que dan cuenta del talento de los artistas.
